Christian authors sharing our love for God through various genres

My family has a camping tradition. As a child, my mom and dad took us camping every summer. As an adult, My husband and I took my two nieces and their mother camping every summer. And finally, as a mother, my husband and I take our daughter camping every summer on a trip that includes my mother, my brother and his family, and the children's Auntie Kay.

This year was no exception and we enjoyed three lovely days in cabins at a local KOA. We swam, we fished, we gem mined, we had camp fires, we jumped, and just had a plain old fashioned good time!

I also had the opportunity to take some interesting pictures (other then those of my family).

This yearly camping experience had me wondering what camping books my library
might have on the shelves. Much to my delight I found Baily Goes Camping by Kevin Henkes. Baily is too small to join his brother and sister on their scout camping trip so his parents arrange an indoor camping trip for him.

I also found a book about camping with physically or mentally disabled children titled Ben, King of the River. It is written by David Gifaldi and the inspiration for this book was drawn from his two nephews, one who has disabilities. The story is told from the point of view of the brother without the disability and how he feels about camping with his little brother.

And finally, I found Molly and Emmett's Camping Adventure by Marylin Hafner. Molly and her cat Emmett plan a back yard camping trip. Emmett is a bit skeptical about camping but helps Molly set up camp. Unforeseen rain ruins their trip, or does it?

So ends an other episode of Kids Korner, with me, children's author Aileen Stewart.  Join me next week for another exciting episode, same crazy time, same crazy channel. And feel free to drop by my personal website, Fun With Aileen, any day of the week for even more on reading, writing, and my very own middle grade book Fern Valley!

Thanks for linking up on the Kid Lit Blog Hop! Camping is one of those 'must do' summer activities - even if it's in the backyard :) Love that you tied books into it. Happy Monday!
PS - I'm having a giveaway over at my site for a prize pack of 2 autographed children's books, hope you'll enter!

I found you through the Kid's Lit Blog Hop, and I'm going to look up that book about camping with kids with disabilities, partly because it sounds like it fits into a theme I'm trying to read about right now, of being the outsider, the not-center-of-attention.

Great collection of camping books! We've not gone on that adventure with Max yet. My husband used to camp every summer with his family, but my family leans more toward hotels (cabins, if we're roughing it). I spy father-son camping trips in their future ;)

Thanks for linking into the KLBH!
